ANTI-VENEREAL DISEASE POSTER 'BEFORE YOU MARRY'
Rare and rather intimidating poster, 9 x 12 in., issued in 1939 by the American Social Hygiene Association. It depicts a groom placing a ring upon his bride’s finger with text reading: 'Before you marry - GIVE A THOUGHT TO YOUR HEALTH Your doctor’s advice is valuable'. Fine condition. The American Social Hygiene Association, founded in 1913, was dedicated to ending prostitution and VD. It was successful during World War II in reducing sexually-transmitted disease in soldiers by 50%.
