RUDOLPH BRANDT
(1904 - 1948) Personal Administrative Officer to Heinrich Himmler, at the Nuremberg Trials he was charged with criminal experimentation on Jewish prisoners and condemned to death. Interestingly, Brandt offered his own body for the same type of evil experimentation which he had undertaken, but for obvious reasons, he was hanged instead. Fine content war-date T.L.S. 'Der Reichsfuhrer-SS' Personal Staff letterhead, 1p. 8vo., 'Field Headquarters', Dec. 24, 1944 to the SS Personnel Department in Berlin. In part: '...Enclosed I send a photograph of the fallen SS-Gruppenfuhrer [Artur] Phleps on the instruction of the Reichsfuhrer-SS for [Phleps'] personnel file...' File holes, one small corner chip, else very good. ARTUR PHLEPS (1881 - 21 September 1944) held the rank of SS-Obergruppenfuhrer und General der Waffen-SS. He raised and commanded the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen, raised the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar (1st Croatian), and commanded the V SS Mountain Corps. Units under his command committed many crimes against the civilian populations of Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro. He was killed while attempting to escape his Red Army captors.
