JOSEPH GOEBBELS - (1897-1945) Nazi Minister of Propaganda with Hitler from the earliest days, a master of manipulation of the masses who took his life and those of his family members in the last days of the war. GOEBBELS' INSCRIBED HISTORY OF THE NSDAP GIVEN TO MAX AMANN, ITS PUBLISHER Fine association signed book, Goebbels' 'Vom Kaiserhof zur Reichskanzlei' (Munich: Franz Eher Nachf.), 1934. 312pp. 8vo., in orange cloth with white painted title, the titles badly chipped, gutter partly split. A signed presentation slip is bound before the front flyleaf, its typed message reading: 'Party Member Max Amann in friendship' with a fine black ink signature: 'Dr. Goebbels'. Goebbels' history of the coming to power of the Nazis. MAX AMANN (1891–1957) was the publisher of this book, a German politician, businessman and a high-ranking member of the Nazi Party. He was the first business manager of the Nazi Party and later became the head of Eher Verlag, the official Nazi Party publishing house. After the war ended, he was arrested by Allied troops. Amann was deemed a Hauptschuldiger (Prominent Guilty Party) and sentenced to ten years in a labor camp.
