HELMUT LENT - (1918 - 1944) Luftwaffe night-fighter ace who shot down 110 aircraft, 102 of them at night, and awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. Killed in a routine transport flight. Interesting Third Reich book: 'Fliegende Front' by Hauptmann W.E. Freiherr von Medem (Berlin: Verlag die Wehrmacht), 1942. 119pp. 4to., covering all aspects of the Luftwaffe units of the German Wehrmacht during the early glory days of World War II. The second front flyleaf bears a presentation page with the message 'Kriegs-Weihnacht 1942...IV Infantrie Regiment Jagdgeschwader 1'. Lent signs beneath in black ink as Hauptmann and Group Commander. Some pages broken at the gutter, the covers reinforced at the corners via blue tape, just good condition.
