Bidspirit auction | FIRE-DAMAGED DRESDEN SIGN
FIRE-DAMAGED DRESDEN SIGN - An ironic and heart-breaking relic of the tragic aerial firebombing of Dresden on Feb. 13-15, 1945, a scorched enamel sign indicating that a particular building was covered by...fire insurance. The 8 x 5.25 in. enameled steel sign is clearly fire-scorched with some of the lettering melted away. The text indicated that the building to which the sign had been affixed was insured by the 'Fire Insurance Chambers Dresden'.
