GEORGE VI - (1895 - 1952) King of England who gained the throne upon the abdication of his brother Edward VIII; brought Winston Churchill to office as Prime Minister. Scarce war-date ink signature 'George R.I.' on an autograph page, hand-dated '22.2'40', taken from a 'Distinguished Visitor's Book' of Wembley Stadium. The page also bears the printed text: 'H.M. KING GEORGE VI at the EMPIRE POOL & SPORTS ARENA on the occasion of the RED CROSS BOXING TOURNAMENT on 22nd February, 1940'. The verso bears the signature of HARRY CRERAR (1888 - 1965), Canadian 'leading field commander' in World War II where he commanded the First Canadian Army. File holes at left, else near mint. Sold with a contemporary scan of the visitor book's front cover.
