Bidspirit auction | FRANZ MATTENKLOTT

FRANZ MATTENKLOTT - (1884 - 1954) German general in the Wehrmacht, saw only limited involvement in France in 1940, but his units played a decisive role during the invasion of Greece in 1941 and, later the same year, during the siege of Sevastopol and other operations in the Crimea. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross. Probable war-date S.P., 3.5 x 5.5 in., a rather crude printed portrait of the general in uniform appearing on the recto of a Feldpost postcard, signed beneath his image in black ink. Slight tear to top-right corner, else very good.
