ERNST-ROBERT GRAWITZ - (1899 - 1945) Reichsphysician SS and police official, Grawitz advised Heinrich Himmler on the use of gas chambers and carried out brutal medical experiments on Nazi concentration camp prisoners. Grawitz was also a physician in the Fuhrerbunker. As high-level ranking Nazis fled Berlin, Grawitz committed suicide by detonating two grenades at the dinner table, thus obliterating himself and his family. Good content printed 'Happy New Year' note on his professional letterhead, 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], reading in full: 'For the congratulations on the occasion of my appointment, I would like to express my sincere thanks, combined with the best wishes for a successful new year.' Grawitz signs at the conclusion in black ink. Two file holes, else fine. While undated, Grawitz likely refers to his ironic appointment as Executive President of the German Red Cross.
