DIETRICH VON CHOLTITZ - (1894 - 1966) German military governor of Paris during the closing days of the occupation of that city during World War II. He claimed to have disobeyed Hitler's order to leave Paris in rubble during this last stage of the war. Rare T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Baden-Baden, Oct. 9, 1959 in German mentioning that he had received a researcher's letters and hopes he will be able to answer the man's question. Bears a beautiful, large signature. Folds, else fine. With a 5 x 7 in. war-date German press photo.
