DAVID LEE ''TEX'' HILL - (1915 - 2007) American fighter pilot and triple flying ace. He is credited with 12 1/4 victories as a squadron leader with the Flying Tigers and another six as an officer Army Air Corps. Good association A.L.S. on the verso of a card illustrating Hill's P-4o over China (also signed by Hill), 6 x 8 in., [n.p.], Apr. 6, 2007. Hill writes to the son Major Gen. Caleb Vance Haynes with whom he had served in China, both under the command of Gen. Claire Chennault. In part: 'Sorry to be late with this, Vance, but at 92 I don't move very fast. Wish I could have helped you...If you ever come this way, the latch string is on the outside...' Fine.
