BERNARD LAW MONTGOMERY - (1887 - 1976) British Field Marshall who commenced the drive at El Alamein that ultimately drove Rommel from North Africa. Also involved in the invasions of Sicily and France. Signed book: 'The Memoirs of Field-Marshal the Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, K.G.' (Cleveland and New York: World Publishing Company), 1958. First ed. 508pp. 8vo. in blue cloth boards with gilt titles. Montgomery signs 'Montgomery of Alamein', adding rank 'F.M.' and 'December 1958', in blue ink on the front flyleaf. Fine condition.
