AUGUST HEISSMEYER - AUGUST HEISSMEYER (1897 - 1979) Waffen-SS general, relieved Theodor Eicke who in 1939 had begun commanding a front line division. Heissmeyer was provisionally in charge of the inspection of concentration camps until relieved by Richard Glucks. T.L.S. on Reichsfuhrer-SS letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Dec. 27, 1937, addressed to 'Trude Burkner', likely the Reich Leader of the League of German Girls, wishing her a happy Christmas and sending greetings for the New Year, signed at the conclusion in black ink. Two file holes, else fine.
