ALEXANDER M. PATCH - (1889 - 1945) American Army general who also commanded Marines in the invasion of Guadalcanal to relieve the 1st Marine Div., headed the invasion landings in southern France and link-up with Patton's Third Army. Died of pneumonia. T.L.S. 'A.M. Patch' on 'Headquarters Seventh Army' letterhead, 1p. 4to., [n.p.], May 7, 1945, forwarding an autographed photo and Seventh Army insignia (neither present). Patch signs at the conclusion in black ink. Mailing folds, minor surface crease at bottom-left corner, else fine.
