ALEXANDER M. PATCH - (1889 - 1945) American Army general who also commanded Marines in the invasion of Guadalcanal to relieve the 1st Marine Div., headed the invasion landings in southern France and link-up with Patton's Third Army. Died of pneumonia. Rare S.P. 'A. M. Patch', 8 x 10 in. b/w, a chest-up view of the general in uniform, seated at a desk with pen in hand and an American flag in the background. Patch signs at bottom-right in blue ink, adding rank. Some surface creases, else very good.
