A LARGE COLOR PRINT OF THE GERMAN SURRENDER AT LUNEBURG HEATH, SIGNED BY FIELD MARSHAL BERNARD MONTGOMERY - A LARGE COLOR PRINT OF THE GERMAN SURRENDER AT LUNEBURG HEATH SIGNED BY FIELD MARSHAL BERNARD MONTGOMERY A most attractive piece a large limited-edition lithograph print of an original oil painting by painter TERENCE CUNEO (1907-1996) a combat artist who served as a sapper in the Royal Engineers and later was the official artist for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The painting depicts the German surrender at Luneburg Heath on May 4 1945 and is signed by the British signatory to the surrender Field Marshal BERNARD LAW MONTGOMERY (1887-1976). The approx. 28 x 24 in. print depicts the moment Montgomery affixed his own signature to the document. He signs the print at bottom as “Montgomery of Alamein F.M.” a title awarded him when he was knighted by King George VI in 1946. A most impressive presentation and the first such signed print we have seen.
