After Paul Gauguin: Change of Residence - After Paul Gauguin (French, 1084-1903): Change of Residence, limited edition (250) posthumous release of a mirror print from the Suite of Late Wood-Block Prints. Woodcut, on tissue thin, Japon paper. Marked with the title, artist's name and date published (1943) in graphite below. Published by the Grabhorn Press which was founded in San Francisco in 1920 by Edwin (1889-1968) and Irma (1906-2003) Grabhorn. The Grabhorns' were collectors of art and antiquarian books and had an extensive collection of important woodcut prints. The Grabhorn Press produced this woodcut in an edition of only 250 copies along with several other Gauguin woodcuts. This one is titled ”Changement de Residence” the originals were produced by Gauguin in 1899 in an edition or roughly 30 prints of which approximately 19 are known to exist. 10.5 x 15.5 inches with margins; 6.25 x 12 inches plate.
