Apart from Rubens, Sir Anthony van Dyck was the most important Flemish painter of the 17th Century. After a brief apprenticeship with van Balen, he became a member of the Antwerp painter's guild and in came under the tutorship of Ruben's himself working as the great master's assistant. Sir Anthony van Dyck was a Flemish Baroque artist who became the leading court painter in England. 16 x 11 inches with margins. Private collection, Illinois. Very good condition considering age.
