Caleb Arnold Slade: Nubian Card Players - Caleb Arnold Slade (American, 1882 - 1961): Nubian Card Players, oil on board, signed lower right, artist's estate stamped verso, framed. Caleb Arnold Slade's paintings hang alongside those of John Singer Sargent at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Like Sargent, Slade is known for his scenes in and around Venice, Italy and in France and Arabia, and his brushwork is fluid and confident. 16.5 x 14 inches framed; 11 x 8.5 inched board. Private collection, New England. Good condition, with signs of age, light craquelure along the top of the painting; small surface abrasion lower left.
