Helmet Mask w/Beads, Kuba People, Zaire - Kuba People, Zaire: Carved wood Helmet mask decorated with geometric patterns, mid-20th century. The front facial area is rendered in brown, black and white pigments, with brass or copper plating attached to the nose and mouth. The crest is covered with a combination of fabric and bead-work. The top of the head is covered with a white and black plaid striped fabric, and un-dyed woven-fiber fabric is wrapped on the back and beard area.
