Jehuda (Istvan) Rodan was born in Oradia, Transylvania. He began studying medicine in Nancy, France, but left medical school to study art with Alfred Macalik in 1935 and Adolph Fenyes in 1939. In 1945, he returned to Oradia. During World War II he spent four years in Nazi forced labor camps. In 1950-1958, he served as director of the local branch of the Romanian Painters Association. Rodan immigrated to Israel in 196, settling in Tel Aviv.
