Oil On Canvas Painting Circle Of Guido Reni Salome With The Head Of John The Baptiste
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR IN-HOUSE SHIPPING. DESCRIPTION: Likely painted in the 1600's. Copies of popular paintings were commonly produced during the period, by re-painting them, since color printing methods had yet to be invented. This includes numerous versions of the extremely popular portrait of Beatrice Cenci by Guido Reni, and this painting of Salome With The Head of John The Baptist. Both Christie's and Sotheby's have auctioned re-painted copies of Reni's "Salome With The Head of John The Baptist". The original painting resides in Galleria Corsini in Rome and has never been available for purchase. PROVENANCE: Part of a collection, some of which was purchased in the past few years, though now being sold. MEASUREMENTS: 62 1/2" X 41 3/4" framed. CONDITION: Lined and restored, re-varnished, touch-up possible. Areas of damage to the frame.
