Chikashige Morikawa, Japanese, active 1869 to 1880s, triptych woodblock print titled Noble Ladies Enjoying Cruising and Viewing Cherry Blossoms. This artwork captures a scene of elegance and leisure as noble ladies partake in the traditional Japanese pastime of cruising while enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms in full bloom. Published in 1879 by Komori Sojiro, this triptych print exemplifies Morikawas skillful use of the woodblock printing technique to depict intricate details and convey a sense of harmony between nature and human activity.
